Jalen Brunson : 0 points on 0-1 shooting (Injured his left knee 28 seconds into the game & didn't return)
The New York Knicks dodged yet another bullet as Jalen Brunson had to leave the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers after a hard fall.
The Knicks traveled to Cleveland for a showdown against the Eastern Conference 2nd seeded Cavaliers. After less than one minute of play, Brunson hurt his left knee while he was taking a shot. You can see how he definitely feels something in his knee even before he releases the shot.
New York's All-Star status was 'questionable' before the game, but head coach Tom Thibodeau decided to play him from the start.
After the game, Thibodeau stated: "It's a knee contusion. He got the X-rays, was examined by the doctor. Everything was negative. We'll see where he is tomorrow." Thibodeau added that there's no timetable for how long Brunson will be out.
Jalen is having a gigantic season for the Knicks, averaging 27.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 6.7 assists while shooting 41% from distance, all career highs. After watching him go down like that in a non-contact action, surely Knicks fans held their breath.
Brunson joins Julius Randle, OG Anunoby and Mitchell Robinson as another essential member of the team listed as injured. Despite that, New York got away with a win thanks to an outstanding team effort.
