The Dallas Mavericks are one of the teams that executed better moves in this past trade deadline, bringing on board Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington.
Gafford had been linked to the Mavs in NBA rumors for weeks. Last year Dallas had already tried to agree on a trade with the Washington Wizards, and this year the 25-year-old center finally got his chance to suit up for the Texans.
In addition, a statistic published on X -formerly Twitter-, shows the enormous work that the Mavs management has done regarding the 'five' position within the roster of Jason Kidd's team. In the summer, Dallas needed the reinforcement of a center, and the names that sounded were those of DeAndre Ayton and Clint Capela.
Taking into account the salaries of the two players in their respective teams, Portland Trail Blazers and Atlanta Hawks, and those of Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford himself in Dallas Mavericks, it is safe to say that the Mavs' work has been impeccable in this aspect, since their two centers are also having a great performance in the Dallas (although Gafford has only played one game, but with a brilliant debut).
For one, Ayton is making $32.45 million this 2023/24 NBA season alone, while Capela will take home $20.6 million. Lively and Gafford, combined, earn a total of $17.1 million, giving the Dallas Mavericks room to continue to strengthen next summer.
