Former
Sacramento Kings star
Scot Pollard is waiting for a
heart transplant in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The 48-year-old has experienced a unique condition for the last
several years where his heart used to beat 10,000 times extra per day.
Pollard was recently quoted in a report where he stated that
the only solution he has is having a heart transplant and that he is hopeful of
getting a donor soon.
“I’m staying here until I get a heart,” he said. “My heart
got weaker. [Doctors] agree this is my best shot at getting a heart quicker. It's
out of my hands. It's not even in the doctor's hands. It's up to the donor
networks … They can’t predict, but they are confident I’ll get a heart in
weeks, not months.”
The Utah-born played for five different franchises in the NBA
in his career — the Detroit Pistons, the Sacramento Kings, the Indiana Pacers, the
Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics. Out of them, he spent most seasons
with the Kings where he played from 1999 till 2003.
Pollard ended up registering more than 2,000 points in his
career including 2,351 rebounds and 299 assists. His best season in terms of
points was in 2001-02 where he registered 509 points.
