Fans of both the
Golden State Warriors and
Los Angeles Lakers were expecting big things from their favorite teams as the NBA
trade deadline rapidly approached. After the troubled seasons they've had, people expected both the Warriors and Lakers to shake things up, add new talent, and get rid of excessive contracts.
In the end, neither team did much of anything at the deadline. Players like D'Angelo Russell, Andrew Wiggins, Chris Paul, and others remain with their current squads and fans were left wondering why.
The response to this lack of movement from both teams was swift on Thursday. Some people questioned if the general managers Mike Dunleavy Jr. and
Rob Pelinka were conspiring together.
Meanwhile, others were calling on LeBron James to leave the team since they didn't do anything to reinforce the roster or make it stronger.
Many online commentators were upset with the Warriors and Lakers because they felt that both teams were wasting the limited time they have with their biggest stars: Stephen Curry and LeBron James. Both players are nearing retiring and the chances of them winning another championship are slipping away.
Although the trade deadline was quiet for these teams, the offseason could be quite busy. Both teams could be waiting for the summer to come and could both make huge splashes at that time.
Until then, fans of these teams will have to hope they can turn things around naturally and without outside help.
