Former
Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers has
revealed that ex-Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge
tried to acquire the services of their star player
Stephen Curry.
The 35-year-old is regarded as one of the best players in his
position in the NBA and has delivered a lot of match-winning performances in the
recent past.
Myers was recently quoted in a report where he discussed in
detail his working relationship with Ainge and also revealed how he
discussed signing Curry during his days in the office.
"Ainge recommended me for the [Warriors] job," said
Myers. "I owed it to Ainge, I owed my career to him, so I can't be upset
with Ainge. We just laughed [about Ainge trying to acquire Curry], we have a
great relationship, so it was funny, but you got to ask. Everybody knew that
wasn't happening, so it was kind of a good laugh."
Curry is having an impressive season once again for the
Warriors where he is averaging 26.7 points per game, 11th-best in the
competition along with 4.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
His best outing in a match this season came against Orlando
Magic where he ended up registering 36 points including two rebounds and six
assists.
