Brooklyn Nets point guard
Ben Simmons has revealed that booing from the
Philadelphia 76ers did not impact his performance in the recent
contest.
The 27-year-old returned to face his former team in the
match on Friday where the Nets came out on top with a score of 136-121 at the Wells
Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
During the match, Simmons was booed by the local fans every
time he touched the ball. Talking about it after the match, the Melbourne-born
stated that he enjoys playing in such a hostile atmosphere.
“It’s funny to me,” he said. “I got grown men pissed off and
yelling at me. It’s not that deep. But it’s sports, it comes with it, so I
enjoy it.”
Simmons did not start the match for the winning team and
came off the bench to play 14 minutes. In that duration, he ended up
registering nine rebounds and five assists. This season, Simmons is averaging 6.1
points, 10.3 rebounds and seven assists per game.
On the night, the
star performer for the winning side was shooting guard Cam Thomas who ended up
registering 40 points, which was by far the most by any player in the match.
That’s not it as he also went on to register three rebounds and five assists.
