Coming into this game the
New York Knicks were the hottest team in
basketball, as they were on a 9-game winning streak. However,
LeBron James came
into Madison Square Garden and took care of business, as the
Los Angeles Lakers
won 113-105.
Over this past week, there were speculation as to whether or
not the Lakers may actually consider trading away one of the greatest players
in NBA history. Due to interesting and subtle tweets by superstar LeBron James,
the NBA media and community were all trying to break down what everything
meant. The 4-time MVP even stated that he had thoughts about playing for the
Knicks. However, agent Rich Paul came out and said that the 20-time All-Star
will not be traded and is not looking to be traded. His focus is on this Lakers
team and it showed tonight.
LeBron led the Lakers with 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 5
assists on 53% shooting. Austin Reaves ended with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 7
assists and 2 blocks while co-star
Anthony Davis recorded 12 points, 18 rebounds,
5 assists, 1 steal, and 4 blocks.
For the Knicks,
Jalen Brunson had another monster
performance, finishing with 36 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists. Donte
DiVincenzo had 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists while Josh Hart had a
12-point, 11 rebound double-double.
This win improves the Lakers to 26-25 on the season, which makes
them 9th in the Western Conference. Los Angeles is 6-4 over their
last 10 games and currently on a 2-game winning streak. Their next game will be
on Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets.
Meanwhile, this loss drops the Knicks to 32-18, which makes
them 4th in the Eastern Conference and 0.5 games behind the 3rd
seeded Cleveland Cavaliers. They are 9-1 over their last 10 games and they will
play against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night.
