For years now,
Gordon Hayward has been one of the most seasoned forwards in all of the NBA, but he has faced multiple injuries and has had limited time on the court during his time with the
Charlotte Hornets.
At 33 years old, Hayward could still have a few years left in his NBA career and it sounds like multiple teams might want to invest in him.
On the latest episode of The Lowe Post podcast, Zach Lowe mentioned that there are a few teams interested in acquiring Hayward from the Hornets. The player is currently out of commission with a strained left calf but should be returning to the court soon.
Lowe mentioned that a particular problem is that Hayward's contract is for $31.5 million. That is a lot of money for many teams, especially for an expiring contract. However, it could bring some sort of cap relief for a few franchises.
Hayward has played in 25 games so far this season and has averaged 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.6 assists during that time. He's also been sinking 47% of his shots and 36% of his three-point attempts.
Hayward got his start in the league back in 2010 and has played for multiple teams since then. After a strong start with the Utah Jazz, Hayward moved to the Boston Celtics and then finally the Hornets. Unfortunately, numerous injuries have limited Hayward and he hasn't played more than 70 games in a season since 2018-19.
