A diminished Philadelphia 76ers team visited the Ball Arena for a match against the Denver Nuggets. Superstar Joel Embiid was out due a knee soreness, but his team proved to be enough to give the Nuggets a run for their money. Jamal Murray confirms his great moment, finishing with 23 points to propel Denver's victory 111-106.
The clash against to MVPs like Nikola Jokic vs Joel Embiid is must seen TV. Sadly, Embiid was ruled out for tonight due to a knee soreness. This injury has been a problem for the star center, who's chances of repeating as the MVP this season are in jeopardy. If Joel misses 6 more games he won't be eligible for this season's awards.
In addition, Tobias Harris and Tyrese Maxey, crucial players for Philly, were also out for the game.
Paul Reed replaced the MVP in the center position for the 76ers. The big man had a good game, considering having to go head-to-head against one of the best players the NBA has ever seen. He finished with 30 points and 13 rebounds.
It was a close game despite Embiid's absence, Philadelphia played solid, smart basketball and stayed right there in the scoreboard.
Jamal Murray was excellent. The canadian guard has been playing out of his mind this January, and today he was key to keep the Nuggets above.
Nikola Jokic had a "quiet"game, but came up huge on the last minutes of the final quarter. He finished with 26 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists. Michael Porter Jr was also key in the fourth, hitting two important three-pointers, and scoring 20 points.
For the Sixers, Kelly Oubre Jr helped with 25 points. Pat Beverley and Marcus Morris scored 17 points.
Denver bounced back from a loss against the Knicks in New York on Thursday, and will now seek to maintain this winning path next Monday, when they will be facing the Milwaukee Bucks, again in Mile High City.
