NBA insider Ramona Shelburne has casted doubts about the
future of
Victor Wembanyama with the
San Antonio Spurs. The 20-year-old is regarded
as one of the most highly-rated young players currently playing in the division.
However, his future with the Spurs has already been under discussion
in the different quarters, largely because of how good he has been on the court
and how poor the team’s performance has been throughout the season.
Shelburne, while talking at ESPN, cast doubts about the
future of Wembanyama with Spurs where she stated that in her opinion, the
youngster is looking set to win big things now.
“Victor is here,” said the 44-year-old. “He is ready to win
and I know they have this idea that they are going to take two to three years to
find that right core and they are all going to be on that same timeline but I
don’t know how patient he will going to be.
“When I watch him play, that man is competitive. He wants to
win. And how long do you give? Year, two? I don’t think he wants to sit here at
the bottom of the lottery standings.”
Wembanyama has been contributing 20.9 points per game this
season, which is the best by any Spurs player this season. He is also
contributing 10.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.
