HISTORIC 73-POINT NIGHT FROM LUKA DONCIC 🤯 🔥 73 PTS 🔥 25/33 FGM (75.8%) 🔥 15/16 FTM 🔥 8 3PM He becomes the 4th player in NBA history to score 73+ points and the first ever to score 70+ on 75% or higher from the field.
In a dazzling performance, Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic wrote his name in NBA annals Friday night by scoring 73 points in his team's 148-143 victory over the Atlanta Hawks at State Farm Arena.
Thus, Luka finished the game with 25 shots scored out of the 33 he attempted, including 8 of 13 three-pointers. In addition, he scored 15 of the 16 free throws he made. Beastly.
Doncic's feat not only eclipsed his own personal record of 60 points, previously set against the New York Knicks in December 2022, but he also became the season's leading scorer and the 15th player in NBA history to reach 70 points in a single game.
Doncic's amazing performance tied basketball legends such as Wilt Chamberlain, David Thompson and Kobe Bryant for fourth place in the NBA single-game scoring records. Chamberlain holds the all-time record with 100 points, while Bryant shocked the world with 81 points in 2006.
"Those names are special," Doncic expressed humbly. "It's unbelievable."
Doncic's epic night included an exhibition from the first quarter, where he scored 18 points, to the last, where he consolidated his performance with eight consecutive points. With 41 points at halftime, the Slovenian player broke the franchise record for points in a half held by legend Dirk Nowitzki.
Doncic's historic performance was not just limited to scoring. In addition to his 73 points, he contributed 10 rebounds and seven assists, becoming only the fifth player in NBA history to score at least 70 points and grab 10 rebounds in a single game, joining an elite group consisting of Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, David Robinson and Joel Embiid, who also achieved this accomplishment recently.
