The
Brooklyn Nets point guard
Ben Simmons is set to stay on
the sidelines, as confirmed by the interim head coach
Kevin Ollie.
The 27-year-old has been out of action since February 27 after
suffering a leg injury. It is reported that the injury is not a new one and that
it is a relapse of the previous injury.
Ollie was recently quoted in a report where he stated that
he has no updates about when the player will return to action but remains
optimistic that Simmons will be available for selection soon.
“No. We were just trying to get to the source of it and
that’s why the change of the wording was,” said Ollie. “But he’s still
day-to-day, he’s still on the court, and hopefully we can get him back soon and
get him ready for this playoff push that we have in March and April.”
Simmons is not having a great time on the court for the Nets
this season where he has played just 15 games. In that, he has contributed 6.1
points, 7.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game.
His most impressive
outing this season came in the match against the San Antonio Spurs where he
ended up registering 13 points to go with three rebounds and five assists.
