Boston Celtics head coach
Joe Mazzulla has heaped praise on veteran
shooting guard
Jaylen Brown after their recent win against the New Orleans
Pelicans.
The Celtics put on show a defensive masterclass in the win against
the Pelicans with a score of 104-92 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans
on Saturday.
Talking after the match, Mazzulla heaped praise on Brown and
stated that his willingness to guard other players has played a key role in
improving the team’s defensive performances this season.
"I think the difference this year is the pride that he [Brown]
takes in guarding whoever he needs to guard, depending upon what's best for
that particular game," said Mazzulla.
"Whether it's guarding a guard and chasing over in pick
and roll and picking him up full court, or guarding a guy like Zion that he has
to get high pickup points on.
"So I think he's understanding that he can have a crazy
impact on the game in many ways without scoring and he's taken pride in that,
and I think his defensive ownership has been big for us."
On Saturday, Brown ended up registering 17 points for the winning
team to go with seven rebounds, six assists, one steal and a block.
