The
New Orleans Pelicans star forward
Zion Williamson has revealed
that the reason behind his brilliant performance against the Los Angeles
Clippers was his competitive nature.
The 23-year-old was on fire, especially from the third
quarter, for the Pelicans as they defeated the Clippers with a score of 112-104
at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Friday.
Talking after the match, Williamson stated that he was a ‘competitor’
and all he wanted to do was to win the match for the teams. "I'm a
competitor,” he said. “I want to win, simple as that... They can take it like
they want, I just want to win."
That was the Pelicans’ fourth win in the last five matches
which left them on the fifth position in the Western Conference with 40 wins
and 26 defeats.
Williamson was the star performer for the winning team as he
ended up registering 34 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists. It
was the second consecutive game where he ended up registering 30 or more points
for the team.
The North Carolina-born is having a fabulous season for the
Pelicans where he is contributing 22.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists per
game.
His best outing this season came in the match against the
Washington Wizards where he ended up registering 36 points to go with six
rebounds and eight assists.
