The
Dallas Mavericks came into this matchup on a 7-game
winning streak, but
Myles Turner helped stop that run as he led the Indiana
Pacers to a 133-111 win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The dynamic duo of
Luka Doncic and
Kyrie Irving has impressed
throughout the season, as their chemistry on the court has grown with each game
played together. Both players are averaging over 25 points per game and helping
carry the Mavs to a potential playoff berth. The 24-year-old point guard from Slovenia
is having an MVP caliber season and proving to be one of the best in the NBA.
However, despite the star power in Dallas, the Pacers played
team basketball and won with ease. Myles Turner led the team with 33 points, which is his season-high. All-Star
Tyrese Haliburton scored 17 points while dishing out 10
assists and racking up 4 steals. Pascal Siakam had 12 points and 9 rebounds
while Bennedict Mathurin recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Luka Magic finished with 33 points and 4 made three pointers
while co-star Kyrie Irving had 29 points with 3 made triples. Josh Green scored
14 points and Sixth Man of the Year candidate Tim Hardaway Jr. ended with 11 points
off the bench, splashing 3 of his 6 attempts from downtown.
This win improves the Pacers to 33-25, which makes them 6h
in the Eastern Conference and 0.5 games above the 7th seeded Magic to
avoid the play-in tournament. Indiana is 6-4 over their last 10 games and
currently on a 3-game winning streak. They will look to continue this momentum tomorrow
against the Toronto Raptors.
Meanwhile, this loss drops the Mavs to 33-24, which makes
them 8th in the Western Conference. Dallas is now 0.5 games behind the 6th
seeded Suns to avoid the play-in. They are 7-3 over their last 10 games and
will look to bounce back on Tuesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
