The excitement around the
All-Star weekend is increasing as the date comes closer. Recient news have linked the possibility of
Jaylen Brown,
Boston Celtics' superstar, making an appearance in the Slam Dunk Contest.
The news has been advanced by Shams Charania of The Athletic: "Brown is seriously considering participating in the Slam Dunk Contest. He has been mulling the possibility for several weeks and seems to be very much in play," the reputed NBA insider said.
If he ends up participating, it would be the first time in a long time that a participant of the All Star Game will also compete in the slam dunk contest. In addition, only four players in the history of the Boston Celtics have been part of the Slam Dunk Contest, and Boston's highest payed figure would become the fifth to do so.
For now, the list of participants in the dunk contest remains an unknown. The only confirmed name is Miami Heat rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr.
Aside from the player of Mexican roots, only the names of Jaylen Brown himself and G-League sensation Mac McClung, winner of last year's All-Star dunk contest, have surfaced, but neither has been confirmed at this time.
Away from the All-Star and his hypothetical presence in the Slam Dunk Contest, Jaylen Brown is completing a remarkable season with Boston Celtics, averaging 22.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, with his team leading the NBA Eastern Conference with a 38-12 record.
