Atlanta Hawks General Manager Landry Fields has revealed
that not making a move for a big name in the recent transfer window was a
part of their long-term strategy.
The Hawks remained largely quiet in the mid-season transfer
window which came to an end on Thursday where certain franchises signed some
key players to strengthen their contingent.
GM Fields was recently quoted in a report where he stated that
not signing anyone was a part of their long-term strategy.
"I think we'll know when it's time to move on from
players," he said. "And we'll know when it's time to bring in
somebody new. But obviously right now, that wasn't the time. This was not the
time.
"With any sort of concept that came in, it's not just
the short-term results or the short-term goals, I should say, that we're
interested in. It's long term."
Hawks are having a decent season as they are placed on the
third position in the Southeast Standings where they are placed on the third position
with 23 wins and 29 defeats.
In their last match, they ended up defeating the Philadelphia
76ers with a score of 127-121 at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday. It was their first win after two consecutive defeats.
