Jalen Green has been on an absolute heater in the month of March. He is playing phenomenal basketball and tonight, he took over the game to lead the Houston Rockets to a thrilling 132-126 overtime victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center.
The 3rd year guard was unstoppable in this game, as he finished with a game-high 37 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 7 triples for the Texan team. Green is truly on fire as he scored over 25 points in his last 7 games, including 4 games with over 35 points. He is breaking out and carrying the Rockets with the absence of Alperen Sengun.
Amen Thompson recorded 25 points and 15 rebounds while Dillon Brooks scored 20 points with 2 blocks. Jabari Smith Jr. had 16 points including a clutch go-ahead bucket in the final seconds of regulation. Fred VanVleet ended with 13 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals.
The Thunder were without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for this game, so Josh Giddey took matters into his own hands and finished with 31 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Jalen Williams had 23 points, 5 boards, and 10 assists, including the game-tying 3 to force overtime.
Isaiah Joe scored 17 points with 4 triples off the bench while Gordon Hayward contributed 13 points. It was a quiet game from Chet Holmgren as he ended with just 2 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
Houston improves to 37-35 with this win and continue to scare Golden State. They are just 1 game behind the Warriors for the 10th seed and it’s their mission to reach the play-in. The Rockets are absolutely rolling at the moment as this is their 10th straight win and they look unbeatable right now. Their next matchup will be on Friday against the Utah Jazz where they’ll look to keep this momentum up.
Oklahoma City drops to 50-22 with this loss and now fall to the 3rd seed in the West. After owning the top spot just a week ago, the Thunder have now slid down the standings. It’s looking like OKC will finish as a top 3 seed, but time will tell what spot they end up holding.
They are still just 1 game behind the Nuggets for top of the conference so it’s still in reach for this young squad, but as we can see it’s a tough battle to win the West. They are 7-3 over their last 10 games and will look to bounce back on Friday against the Phoenix Suns.
