The marquee matchup for today was between the
Dallas Mavericks, commanded by
Luka Doncic, clashing against the best team so far up to this season, the
Boston Celtics.
Jayson Tatum y
Jaylen Brown were absolutely dominant on offense, establishing themselves as one of the bests duos in the league. Boston wins 119-110.
Dallas came to play after 5 days of inactivity, due to a game postponed against the Golden State Warriors last Friday after the passing of assistant coach Dejan Milojevic.
This brief rest had some effect, as the Mavericks’s offense looked out of rhythm, it wasn’t as dangerous as it normally is.
The Celtics on the other hand, were playing back-to-back games, last night having defeated the Houston Rockets without much problems. Not everything was so good, they lost Kristaps Porzingis, who was actually the key player againts the Rockets, due to a sore knee.
No Porzingis? No problem. Brown and Tatum took care of this game. For the first half it was Tatum torching the Celtics, finishing first two periods as Boston lead scorer and shooting 55% from the field.
For the second half it was Jaylen Brown, who was a menace. Actually Tatum and Brown shot a combined 54% from the field the whole game. Not much of a surprise that they ended up with 38 and 35 points respectively. A masterclass from Boston’s icons.
The Mavericks stayed near but could never figure out Boston’s offense. Luka finished the game with 33 points, 18 rebounds and 13 assists, but shot the ball poorly, 40% from the field.
Statement win for Boston, as they confirmed why they are on the top of the NBA’s regular season.
