The Chicago Bulls can't seem to catch a break when it comes to injuries. The roster has been diminished by health issues for about 2 years now. Lonzo Ball is missing his second straight season with Chicago due to knee surgery, and the list gets bigger. Zach LaVine, NIkola Vucevic and Torrey Craig have suffered injuries that kept them out for quite a while. Patrick Williams, Bulls' forward, trusts that the team will figure things out.
Williams replaced Zach LaVine a few days ago, when Bulls' star hurt his ankle in a game against the Toronto Raptors, and now is part of the starting lineup.
The player knows that opponents won't care about injury woes and that the Bulls need to find a way to stay competitive.
“You just find a way,” Williams declared.
Chicago defeated the Memphis Grizzlies, another team that looks like a hospital this season, with 4 players injured, and two of them (Ja Morant and Steven Adams) out for the season.
‘‘Good teams know how to still win games when they’re missing key pieces. For us, it’s about playing with pace, getting downhill, knowing shots may not fall as easily as they do when [LaVine’s] playing. But getting stops defensively and getting out in transition, I think we’re still pretty good.’’ Williams added.
“The end goal is to win the game (no matter) who's playing, who's not playing. That's your job as a team, that's your job as a player to win games. We're all trying to find a way to do that.” said Williams, who also praised on his teammates and knows that they are ready to perform whenever the coach needs them.
Regarding this, coach Billy Donovan stated:
“During the course of an NBA season, you’re going to have guys out,” “it gives an opportunity for someone that hadn’t had those number of minutes. The injuries are just a part of it. I think our guys should have confidence. Not every guy is going to be in the rotation when we’re whole.”
