Every year, the
Los Angeles Lakers are involved in trade rumors. Those rumors intensifiy as the
trade deadline comes closer, and this season is no exception. Sources report that they've been in numerous talks with the
Atlanta Hawks, trying to land
Dejounte Murray in California.
Dejounte is still "the guy" that LA hopes to acquire, and as days go by, the speculation about a potential trade increases.
The teams “have engaged in the most substantive trade discussions with Atlanta on Murray,” according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
The Hawks wanted to include Austin Reeves as an assett to execute the trade, but Lakers front office rule him out of the table.
The player that Los Angeles was convinced to be key to get a deal with Atlanta was
D'Angelo Russell. Lakers' guard has elevated his game and he's been playing phenomenal since his name started to swirl around in the trade talks. His January averages are remarkable, with 22.4 points (52.7% from the field) and 6.1 assist.
However, Atlanta has no interest in him. The only way that the Hawks could make a deal is if a third team takes part in the negotiation, and takes Russell's contract with them.
