Jayson Tatum and Grant Williams spent years playing together with the
Boston Celtics but they are now fighting for different teams, as Williams has moved on to the
Dallas Mavericks while Tatum continues to lead his Celtics.
On Monday night, the friends met again when their teams faced off against one another in Texas. And as the clock ticked down to halftime, Tatum ruthlessly swatted down a halfcourt shot that Williams was putting up.
The moment was captured on video and most people agreed that Tatum was just having fun with his buddy and giving him a hard time. There was no indication that Williams' shot was going to find the basket, but Tatum still block it anyway. Many people said it was something that an older brother would do to his sibling.
Tatum and the Celtics ultimately beat the Mavericks and Williams was only able to produce 2 points, 3 rebonds, and 2 assists in the game. As for Tatum, he had another impressive game and scored 39 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists.
It was Luka Doncic who did the most for Dallas, scoring 33 points, 18 rebounds, and 13 assists. But his triple-double wasn't enough to slow down Tatum and the Celtics and now the Mavericks have a 24-19 record.
There have been rumors of Williams leaving the Mavericks. Even though he has only been with the team since the start of the season, some reporting has suggested that the front office might send him away in order to bolster the roster.
However, it's not clear what teams would be interested in signing Williams. For the season, he is averaging 8 points and 3.5 rebounds, which is a slight decrease to what he did last season with the Celtics.
