It seems that everyone has opinions about the upcoming
All-Star Game roster, including some NBA stars.
Jonas Valanciunas of the
New Orleans Pelicans, for example, thinks that his fellow Lithuanian star
Domantas Sabonis of the
Sacramento Kings was snubbed from the big game.
Speaking with Eurohoops, Valanciunas said, "He’s very talented. He’s a very good player. I think he deserved to be an All-Star. But it is what it is. We can’t reverse that back.”
He's not the only one who feels this way, as Sabonis has been averaging 19.9 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game so far in 2023-24. Some NBA analysts were shocked to see Sabonis and his teammate De'Aaron Fox miss out on being selected as starters or reserve players for the All-Star Game while other teams, like the Los Angeles Lakers, earned multiple selections for the game.
Valanciunas and Sabonis are quite close and there is a chance that they play together for this home country in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Valanciunas says that he hopes to stay healthy and is eager to assist his team in qualifying for the games this summer.
Although Sabonis has been having a great season, Valanciunas has been as well with an average of 13.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists on 57% from the field. The combination of him and Sabonis together on the same team for the Olympics is a very attractive thought for many NBA followers.
