History was made tonight in Arizona, as
Devin Booker became the second leading scorer all-time for the
Phoenix Suns franchise, passing Alvan Adams and now only trailing Walter Davis. His historic performance helped lead his team to a 130-125 victory over the
Sacramento Kings at Footprint Center.
When asked about this achievement, DBook said that it's hard to put into words. He said he has high respect for Alvan as well as all of his peers, mentioning that despite not being a focal point back in Kentucky, he was confident in himself even though he knew how talented everyone around him was. The Suns shooting guard loved the competition and knew that he could score buckets due to his strong mindset of never backing down.
This was seen tonight, as Booker scored 25 points to go with 9 assists.
Kevin Durant had a double double, finishing with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Bradley Beal injured his hamstring 5 minutes into the game and would not return, so Eric Gordon took on a heavier load and scored 23 points off the bench, including hitting 4 three pointers. Grayson Allen contributed 19 points in his 40 minutes.
For the Kings, their dynamic duo put up monster performances.
Domantas Sabonis had a huge triple double, finishing with 35 points, 18 rebounds, and 12 assists on 64% shooting.
De'Aaron Fox had a game high 40 points to go along with 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals with 5 made threes. Malik Monk scored 22 points off the bench. Despite these huge efforts, it wasn't enough in tonight's matchup.
The Suns will face off against the Detroit Pistons tomorrow, but they will be without Bradley Beal. This is their final game before heading into the All-Star break. They currently sit at the 5th seed at 32-22.
Meanwhile, Sacramento will play against the Denver Nuggets tomorrow. They are the 8th seed with a record of 30-23.
