The Philadelphia 76ers experienced a tough loss on Thursday night, losing by just one point to the Los Angeles Clippers at home. And in the final seconds of the game, Kelly Oubre Jr. believed that he got fouled but didn't receive a call by the refs.
After that, he let the game officials hear it, repeatedly cursing at them.
After retaining his cool, he walked back his comments in the post-game press conference.
"I want to apologize for just losing my cool, because that's something I try to work on each and every day, and try to represent God in the best way I possibly can, and that wasn't it. I just ask for forgiveness," Oubre said. "It wasn't cool, so I'll take whatever penalties come with that."
Head coach Nick Nurse was also very unhappy with the refs and he let his opinion be known too.
"I think he took it in there pretty hard, right?” Nurse said. “I looked at it on our computer screen a couple times. I thought there was certainly contact. Certainly as much as the last two or three that got called and-1’s at the other end. And that’s all. I just thought it was enough contact to call. But that’s the way it goes sometimes.”
Oubre has been averaging 14.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game during his first season with the Sixers. With the absence of Joel Embiid, Oubre has been one of the many players who has stepped up and contributed more for the team. Despite all their hard work, the Sixers are the eighth team in the East, which means they will likely fight their way to the playoffs through the Play-In Tournament.
