There is always a debate about who is the best point guard in the NBA and on Friday morning, analyst Kendrick Perkins added his two cents.
Surprising some, Perkins said that he'd choose
Jalen Brunson of the
New York Knicks over everyone else, including even Steph Curry and Shai-Gilgeous Alexander.
Speaking on ESPN, Perkins said:
“No disrespect to Steph Curry. No disrespect to SGA. But I’m not taking anybody over Jalen Brunson…Right now he is the best point guard in the game in my opinion when it comes to being a floor manager & a floor general”
Brunson is indeed having an amazing season for the Knicks, averaging 27.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game on 47.8% from the field.
Beyond his strong numbers, Brunson has also helped the Knicks' culture and their chemistry. He has proven himself as the missing piece that the team needed all along.
Because of his leadership, the Knicks have become a playoff contender. They are currently the fifth-best team in the Easter Conference with a 41-28 record.
Brunson is now having the best season of his career and the Knicks are looking better than they have in years because of that. Still, the claim that he is better than both Curry and Gilgeous-Alexander is a big one and Perkins' opinion is definitely going to raise a lot of eyebrows.
