LeBron James of the
Los Angeles Lakers has remained relatively healthy throughout most of 2023-24, which has been wonderful news for his struggling team. But the season is long and injuries catch up with many players throughout the league.
James is now set to sit out of Friday night's game against the
Milwaukee Bucks due to an ankle injury.
n"It's just my ankle. It's just what I've been dealing with before the [All-Star] break, after the break. I'm just managing it the best way I can," LeBron told the press.
He then added: "I'll be all right."
Fans knew something was wrong with King James a few days ago when he left for the locker room with nearly four minutes left on the clock in his team's loss to the Sacramento Kings. At the time, he said it was because of ankle soreness, although some people speculated that it was due to him being unhappy with LA's performance against the Kings.
James will have to manage this ankle injury for the rest of the season, however long that is. He has no intention of taking too much time off or getting surgery, which means he will hopefully play in many more games with the Lakers. But will head coach Darvin Ham have to reduce his minutes or workload during those games?
It's not entirely clear how much longer the season will be for the Lakers. They are currently the tenth seed in the West, meaning they would just barely qualify for the Play-In Tournament if it started today. There is a chance they could climb higher, of course, but they could also fall out of playoff contention altogether if they don't start winning more games.
Losing James is never good news for the Lakers, especially right now. They are hoping that this absence is a brief one because they need him now more than ever.
