The
Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Dallas Mavericks on the series opener last Sunday. For tonight's game 2, Ty Lue, Clippers' head coach, has confirmed that
Kawhi Leonard status is available.
Kawhi Leonard comes from a season were he played at an excellent level. The two-time NBA champion played a total of 68 games in the last campaign with the Clippers, the most games since his Spurs' days. His averages are outstanding: 23.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists. His efficiency is amazing, nearly 53% from the field, almost 42% from beyond the arc and 88.5% from the three-point line.
Leonard has build a reputation of 'injury prone' over the lasts seasons. Since that hamstring injury that led him to ask for a trade while he was in San Antonio, the Klaw always had troubles to stay on court, especially after arriving to LA. Both him and
Paul George suffered several hampering injuries that wouldn't allow them to play regularly.
The 32-year-old superstar has been recovering from a knee soreness that sidelined him a week before the regular season was over. However, the Clippers played really good basketball without him against the Mavs, winning the first game of the series with ease. Kawhi's return means a lot for Ty Lue's squad, as Leonard is perhaps the best two-way player in the NBA when healthy.
With him back in the lineup the Clippers elevate their defense significantly. PG and Kawhi could guard Doncic and Irving and slow them down, forcing Dallas' role players to make the difference.
Hopefully the two-time Finals MVP stays healthy in order to witness a great series with both teams fully loaded.
