NBA Trade Deadline: The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the busiests franchises this days. Front office wants to make improvements to keep their stars happy and make a turn to what has been some of a rocky first half of the season. Jovan Buha, from The Athletic, reported some details about the advanced negotiations with the Atlanta Hawks in order to land Dejounte Murray in California.
According to sources, the Hawks are actively exploring options to trade Murray before the February 8th deadline, and the Lakers are emerging as an attractive destination for the player. The Lakers have faced some challenges since its In-Season Tournament victory, and they are looking to strengthen the roster and improve its performance aiming to secure a spot to this year's Playoffs.
The proposed framework for this potential deal would include point guard D'Angelo Russell, young talent Jalen Hood-Schifino and several draft picks, including a valuable first-round pick in 2029.
The offer, considering what the Hawks are asking for Murray as one of their stars, is far from satisfying the claims of the Georgia franchise. However, the acquisition of D'Angelo Russell is attractive to them.
Both the Lakers and Hawks are in similar positions in their respective conferences. The Lakers are 10th in the West with a 21-22 record, bordering on 50% wins, and the Hawks are also ranked 10th in the East, with a slightly worse record: 18-23.
