NBA Trade Deadline: The Golden State Warriors haven't been in such a bad place in many years and it's clear that something has to change as soon as possible if the team hopes to even reach the Play-In Tournament.
The upcoming NBA trade deadline could be a huge moment for this struggling team, which has a 18-22 record and is 12th in the Western Conference. But inside reporting says that the Warriors aren't sure which direction they should take.
At the core of this question is the possible different avenues they can take. The Warriors could elect to stay the course and let the last few years of Stephen Curry's career play out like the did for Kobe Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers. If they take that path, they won't experience much more postseason success but they will hold onto their biggest star.
The team could also choose to trade away whoever they need to in order to give Curry some help. The Warriors allegedly want to hold onto younger players like Kevon Looney, Dario Saric, and Gary Payton II. However, each of those players could also be used as trade assets in order to build a strong team around Curry.
For the last few weeks, there has been a lot of speculation about the futures of Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Chris Paul, and other veteran stars. Andrew Wiggins is another name tossed around often as a possible trade candidate.
The team is short on cash and, sadly, short on options too.
