The Houston Rockets made a lot of changes last summer, receiving a new head coach and several additions to the roster too. Now they have to decide if they are willing to sit still and wait or try to commit to more changes before the upcoming NBA trade deadline.
HoopsHype is reporting that the Rockets want to hold onto some of the stars at the center of their roster, such as Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr, and Amen Thompson.
They are also very fond of up-and-coming big man Alperen Sengun.
However, the team could definitely make trades featuring Jeff Green, Victor Oladipo, Jae'Sean Tate, Aaron Holiday, Boban Marjanovic, and Reggie Bullocks. These players are older and experienced but don't seem to align with the youthful core of the team.
A few of those players also have expiring contracts, which gives the Rockets even more reason to send then away before February 8.
The Rockets are the 11th seed in the West, which is a step up from last season but still far away from where they want to be. However, the front office knows that a radical transformation takes time and they aren't expecting them to be championship contenders right away.
If the Rockets choose patience, they will likely only make minor changes. However, there is the chance that they will ship away multiple expiring contracts in order to get closer to the playoffs.
