Legendary
Michael Jordan’s sneakers used during the NBA
Championship sold for a whopping $8 million.
The 60-year-old is often regarded as one of the greatest
players in the history of the competition. He led the
Chicago Bulls to six NBA
titles, an incredible feat to say the least.
As per the latest report, six of those pairs of shoes worn by Jordan
during the six championship campaigns were sold for a whopping price of $8 million.
The head of the modern collectables Braham Wachter, who was
a major player during the auction, suggested that such a high price is a
testament to Jordan’s contribution to the game.
“Today’s record-breaking price is a testament to the
GOAT," he said. "The Dynasty Collection undeniably ranks among the
most significant compilations of sports memorabilia in history.
“Serving as both a reminder of Michael Jordan's lasting
impact on the world and a tangible expression of his recognized legendary
status, its significance is further validated by this monumental result. A
truly unparalleled moment and milestone in auction history, the sale of these
six championship-clinching sneakers will likely never be replicated.”
Jordan registered more than 30,000 points in his career. His
best season in terms of points generation came in 1986-87 where he registered
3,041 points. The New York-born was named six times NBA Finals MVP. He was also
named the competition’s Most Valuable Player five times in his career — 1988,
1991, 1992, 1996, 1998.
