Dallas Mavericks have received a major boost as point guard Kyrie Irving is edging closer to returning to the court.
The 31-year-old suffered a thumb injury because of which he ended up missing the last six matches of the franchise. Head coach Jason Kidd was recently quoted in a report where he stated that Irving will ‘hopefully’ feature in the Mavericks’ next match on Sunday.
"Kai has had two good days here of practice," he said. "Hopefully, on this trip, he'll be available, but I thought he looked good yesterday."
The news will be a major boost for the Mavericks side and the fans as well as their team have lost their last two matches against the Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Those results left the Mavericks in the second position in the Northwest Standings with 34 wins and 15 defeats.
Irving has been one of the star performers for the side in the ongoing campaign. He is averaging 25.2 points per game which is the second-best by a Mavericks player this season, only behind Luka Doncic.
That’s not it as he is also averaging 5.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. His best outing this season came in the match against the New York Knicks where he registered 44 points to go with four rebounds and 10 assists.
