The
Los Angeles Lakers suffered a thumping defeat to the Indiana
Pacers with a score of 109-90 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on
Friday.
Table standing
Despite suffering a defeat in their most recent fixtures,
the Lakers remain in the ninth spot in the Western Conference table with 41 wins
and 33 defeats.
As things stand, they have some leverage over the likes of
the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets. The Warriors are on the 10th
spot with 39 wins and 34 defeats whereas the Rockets are 11th with
38 wins and 35 defeats.
Easy schedule
Friday’s match did not go as per plan for the Lakers but
that should not disheart the fans, especially while looking at the upcoming
fixtures list.
The Lakers are set to face the likes of Brooklyn Nets,
Washington Wizards, Toronto Raptors, Memphis Grizzlies and Warriors in five out
of the remaining eight matches which would give them an opportunity to increase
their standings.
Importance of James, Russell
The Lakers great run of form where they won five in a row came
to an end on Friday. During that run, two players who stood out and made
themselves count were legendary
LeBron James and
D'Angelo Russell.
However, in the match against the Pacers, both were not on
song which ended up costing the side. Therefore, the management and the fans
will be hoping that the duo will return to their very best in the remaining
fixtures.
