San Antonio Spurs young sensation
Victor Wembanyama has
achieved yet another milestone in the match against the
New York Knicks.
The 20-year-old is often regarded as the most highly-rated
young player currently playing in the competition.
On Friday, he showcased his talent once again and helped his
side secure an important win over the Knicks with a score of 130-126 after
overtime at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
Wembanyama was undoubtedly the side’s star performance on
the night as he registered 40 points to go with 20 rebounds and seven assists. It
was the first time this season that the young centre registered 40 or more points.
While doing so, he became the first rookie since legendary Shaquille
O’Neal in 1993 to register 40 points and 20 rebounds in a single match.
This is not the first time when Wembanyama registered
similar performances this season, that too while playing in the side who are
placed at the bottom of the Western Conference table with just 18 wins and 56
defeats.
Wembanyama has registered 21 points per game which is by far
the best by any Spurs player in the ongoing campaign. To go with that, he has
registered 10.5 rebounds per game which is the 12th-best in the
competition.
