The
Los Angeles Lakers are understandably very determined to sign
LeBron James to another season. The four-time champion has the ability to exercise his player option this summer and could make his way to any number of teams across the league. But there is one way the Lakers could entice the superstar to remain in Southern California.
According to The Athletic, the Lakers are "willing to explore the notion" of adding
Bronny James, LeBron's son, if the USC freshman declares himself for the 2024
NBA Draft.
This would reportedly keep LeBron happy enough to remain with the Lakers for the foreseeable future. James has repeatedly stated that he wishes to play with his son and has even suggested that he would move to a new team to make that happen.
As James grows older and retirement looms, the Lakers intend to do whatever it takes to keep him on the roster, especially because he continued to produce impressive stat lines game after game.
A slew of teams in the NBA would leap at the chance to acquire James and there was recently a report about the Golden State Warriors attempting to do just that before the NBA trade deadline. If the summer comes and the Lakers haven't made it to the playoffs, multiple front offices will also try to land Bronny as a way to entice his father to abandon his current team.
Bronny is averaging 5.8 points, 3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game during his freshman year at USC. Many analysts assume that he would be a second-round pick in the draft but there is a chance that he could go much higher, as a way to attract his legendary father.
Many teams see Bronny and his dad as a package deal and that is what might make him so attractive in the draft.
