Marc Gasol has announced his retirement from professional basketball. The former NBA winner with the Toronto Raptors and Memphis Grizzlies legend will never wear a basketball jersey again. He has spent a total of 20 seasons as a professional.
He is currently the owner and president of Basket Girona, the team with which he played last season. At the beginning of the current campaign he announced that he would not start playing and now he has just announced that he is quitting.
According to Shams Charania, he is confirming that Memphis Grizzlies will retire his number '33'.
These were some of his explanations of his final farewell: "Now is the time to give back everything I have been taught. A part of me had already decided. It has been a hard process and there is a part of me that does not agree with it, it is time to step aside. The proposals have made my decision more difficult. The launch of the video we had been ready for a few weeks, but there were emotional issues in Girona that made you self-deceptive. My proposal was to invest my time in my family and other things.
