The Miami Heat are currently ranked 7th in the Eastern Conference, after being the surprising team that last year went all the way up to the NBA Finals. Similar with that same scenario in which they ended up being the 8th seeded, this season their struggles also have been related with health issues, more than basketball ones.
This Sunday, Miami will be hosting a key matchup against a wounded Cleveland Cavaliers team, that's also been having some of their best players sidelined after the All-Star break. However, Miami's situation with injuries has been much worse, and a constant throughout this whole 2023-24 NBA season.
For this upcoming duel, the talented rookie,
Jaime Jaquez Jr is ruled out. The young player is listed as "questionable" with a left ankle discomfort. Jaquez has missed six games for Miami, but proved to be instrumental for the squad, covering
Jimmy Butler's absenses in this campaign in good form.
Caleb Martin is also out for Sunday's showdown. He was a great appearance during last playoffs, but has been dealing with several leg injuries for a while now.
Tyler Herro,
Duncan Robinson and
Kevin Love will also be sitting out against the Cavs. Herro and Love have been sidelined for a while now, missing a total of 15 and 13 games each, so far up until now. Robinson has been out the last three games with a left facet syndrome. He's expected to be back soon, as the guard himself stated that luckily, his injury "isn't so serious". But they have to proceed with caution in order for it to not get any worse.
Only twelve games left, almost no room for error for the Heat if they want to make a final push to get to that 6th spot that gives direct access to the playoffs.
