The
Minnesota Timberwolves have announced that their star
center
Karl-Anthony Towns has underwent successful knee surgery.
The 28-year-old suffered a knee injury in the match against
the Portland Trail Blazers on March 04 and since then, he has taken no part in
any of the matches.
The franchise, in a short statement, announced on Tuesday that
their star has undergone a successful knee surgery for a lateral meniscus tear.
“Towns underwent successful surgery on a Left Knee Lateral
Meniscus Tear. He will be re-evaluated in four weeks and further updates on his
progress will be provided when available,” the statement said.
Since his injury, the Timberwolves have lost two and won two
in four outings and are currently placed in the third position in the Western
Conference with 45 wins and 21 defeats.
Before getting injured, Towns was having a fabulous season for
the franchise where he was contributing 22.1 points per game which is the
second-best by any Timberwolves player. That’s not it as he was also
contributing 8.4 rebounds and three assists per game.
His best outing this season came in the match against the Charlotte
Hornets where he registered 62 points to go with eight rebounds and two assists.
