Lakers ‘willing to explore’ adding Bronny James to keep LeBron James happy trib.al/d3FzCPU
The Los Angeles Lakers seemingly dodged a bullet last week when they didn't lose LeBron James at the NBA trade deadline. The Golden State Warriors picked up the phone and tried to make a deal happen but James declined their offer and is still a Lakers, at least for now.
But that doesn't mean he will stick with the purple and gold for the rest of his career. In fact, The Athletic is reporting "Not only are rival executives increasingly convinced that James might want out [of Los Angeles], but they're also focused on the Bronny James factor."
In other words, there are multiple teams that feel if they signed LeBron's son, Bronny, they would have a very good chance at getting King James too.
LeBron has repeatedly said that he would love to play alongside his son in the NBA before he retired. He even hinted that he would move to a different team if it gave him a chance to suit up with Bronny. But it's not clear which teams are capable - or willing - to do that.
Bronny will be a part of this year's draft. Most reports suggest that he will likely be picked by a team but he probably won't be a top-ten recruit. NBA analysts will be paying close attention to whichever team signs Bronny, as they might be a sign of who may try to sign LeBron as well.
Of course, the Lakers can eliminate this problem by simply using their draft pick to sign Bronny. That is indeed a possibility that has been spoken about around the league. However, if other teams really do believe James could be convinced to leave the Lakers, they will do whatever they must to sign his son and him in the summer.
