The
Sacramento Kings defeated the
Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, which gave them the series sweep this regular season. Furthermore, in 10 matchups between the two talented big man,
Domantas Sabonis is 10-0 against
Anthony Davis. This sparked some debate around the NBA community as to which All-Star is actually better.
On his podcast "Pat Bev Pod", Bucks point guard
Patrick Beverley shared his opinions on this topic. He stated that if it was a 7-game series, he would take Davis. However, if it was a single game, he would take Sabonis. Adam Ferrone, the co-host of this podcast, said that he would prefer the Kings big man because he stats the stuff sheet and plays well on both sides of the ball.
Beverley gave an ambiguous answer, and it could be because he did not want to start any drama. He has great respect for both players and just loves basketball, as many can tell with his intensity on the court. The 3-time All-Defensive member shared a locker room with Anthony Davis so he has a relationship with him from their time in LA.
Many people have also weighed in on this debate, most notably praising Domas and mentioning that he is underrated. The 27-year old is averaging nearly a triple-double with 20.1 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 8.4 assists. He can do it all on the court, from rebounding and playing in the post to pushing the ball up the court and facilitating the offense like a guard. His skillset is truly remarkable and is as close to Nikola Jokic as you can get.
Fans across social media are still shocked that with this production, Sabonis was snubbed from the All-Star team. He ranks 6th in MVP odds and is currently on a franchise record 48 straight double-double streak and counting.
Anthony Davis has also been playing phenomenal this season, averaging 24.7 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists while only missing 4 games, which has been a knock on him for previous years. The 9-time All-Star is having one of the best seasons of his career on both ends of the floor. Despite his struggles against the versatile big man in Sacramento, AD is still a monster in his own right.
Both of these players will continue to play their brand of basketball and work on helping their squads reach the playoffs. The Kings currently sit as the 6th seed in the West while the Lakers are the 9th seed.
