The 2010's
Miami Heat-Boston Celtics beef is very much alive. This two teams went all-in against each other back in the day, and now, with most of them retired, rivalry carries on through the media. Paul Pierce had some controversial words about
Udonis Haslem's jersey retirement ceremony, and the power forward answered.
Everything started last week, when the Heat organization honored Haslem by retiring his jersey, as a recognition to his long and succesful career. Udonis played 20 years for the Heat, and was a part of every championship they've won.
In addition, Haslem is the Heat's all time leader in rebounds and the second with most appearances, with 879 games played for the southbeach franchise. As years went by, Udonis kept being a figure that represented the "Heat Culture", adding value in Miami's locker room, serving as a mentor to future generations.
Although he's beloved in Miami, his numbers weren't among the bests of the league (7.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 0.5 assists). Here is where Paul Pierce make his enter:
"This one given bro just saying."
This comment implied that Haslem didn't deserve the jersey retirement, he didn't earn it. When Udonis notice this, he fired back through his Instagram account.
"My first reaction was to choose violence but I'm gonna spare cause I know you ain't like that. You are entitled to your opinion, my boy", replied Haslem.
Pierce, now in the media, has became famous for having a big mouth and being a bit of a hater with his former rivals. He even threw some shade to LeBron after the career he's had.
Not long time ago, before this comments, Haslem stated that he would fight Pierce if he bump into him at a grocery store. Then, things cooled off and Udonis even invited "The Truth" to his podast to talk it out, but this didn't happen.
There's no doubt that after more than 10 years, things are chippy as ever.
