Philadelphia 76ers star player
Joel Embiid has strengthened his
position in the race to be nominated the Most Valuable Player of the NBA for the
2023-24 season, that is according to Sports Illustrated.
The 29-year-old is currently averaging 36 points per game
this season which is the best by a player from any team. Along with that, he is
also averaging 11.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game.
Recently, Embiid had an incredible night where he ended up
registering 70 points for the team to go with 18 rebounds and five assists. As per
Sports Illustrated, those performances are enough to make Yaounde-born the
favourite to win the MVP this season.
In that list, he is followed by Denver Nuggets star forward Nikola
Jokic who is averaging 26.3 points, 12 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game. His
best outing this season came in the match against the Washington Wizards where
he scored 42 points with the help of 12 rebounds and eight assists.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder is
present on the third spot in that list. He is averaging 31.1 points, 5.6
rebounds and 6.4 assists per game.
Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks featured on the fourth
spot in that list. He is averaging 31 points, 11.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists per
game. Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics is fifth on that list as he is averaging
26.8 points, 8.4 assists and 4.3 assists per game.
