Athletic journalist Shams Charania has claimed that Phoenix
Suns power forward
Drew Eubanks ‘barely flinched’ after
Detroit Pistons center Isaiah
Stewart punched him in the face.
The incident physical altercation took place before the
start of the match between the Suns and Pistons on Wednesday where the home
team came out on top with a score of 116-100 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix.
Charania was recently quoted in a report where he stated
that Eubanks ‘barely flinched’ after the attack and ‘stood there stone cold’.
“From what I’m told — the footage will show — Drew Eubanks
barely flinched,” he said. “He stood there stone cold.”
The Suns released a statement condemning Stewart for the
incident. “The attack on Drew Eubanks was unprovoked, and acts of violence such
as this are unacceptable,” Suns spokesperson said. “We unequivocally support
Drew, and will continue to work with local law enforcement and the NBA.”
On the other hand, the Pistons stated that they were in the process
of gathering information about the altercation.
“We are aware of the incident between
Isaiah Stewart and
Drew Eubanks prior to this evening’s game,” the Pistons said. “We are in the
process of gathering information about what happened and what provoked it, and
responding to the NBA and local authorities.”
