Sacramento Kings coach
Mike Brown has been fined by the NBA
for his post-match criticism with the help of a laptop on the referee.
Kings suffered a heartbreaking defeat with a score of 143-142
against Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday. After the match, Brown took his laptop to
the press conference and highlighted the alleged flaws of the referee which ended
up hurting his team’s chances in the game.
"The referees are human, and they're going to make
mistakes,” he said on Sunday. “But you just hope that there's some sort of
consistency and there's some sort of communication between the refs. The refs
tonight, they were great, they communicated with me all night. But in terms of
consistency, you guys saw it right here. In my opinion, the consistency wasn't
here tonight."
Following that comment, the NBA’s head of basketball operations fined
Brown $50,000. The 53-year-old was asked about it after the Kings’ recent defeat against
Phoenix Suns where he jokingly stated that the fine would make it hard for him
to take his family for a vacation.
"The fine is what it is," said Brown. "My
partner is upset with me because I was going to splurge and take her and my
grandson skiing in Lake Tahoe at the All-Star break, but I called her and told
her we probably won't be able to do it unless the Ritz-Carlton, which is a
terrific place, gives me a discount."
