The storyline coming into tonight's game was the jersey retirement of 4-time champion Shaquille O'neal, but it ended up becoming about the dynamic duo of
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and
Jalen Williams, as they made history becoming the first pair of teammates in OKC to have back-to-back 30-point games since future Hall of Famers Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
SGA stole the show tonight, as he took over the game and led the
Oklahoma City Thunder to a 127-113 victory over the
Orlando Magic at Kia Center. In the process of this dominant performance, he hit a midrange dagger with 2:24 left in the 4th to put his team up 17. After hitting this shot, he yelled out "GO HOME" to the home fans as a timeout was called.
The Canadian has really improved his game over the past 2 seasons, as he made his first All-Star game and All-NBA appearance last year and is now in the MVP conversation while leading the Thunder to a top 2 seed in the Western Conference. The 25-year-old is single-handedly speeding up the rebuild process for this organization and making OKC one of the most dangerous teams for the next decade.
The 2-time All-Star led the way with 32 points tonight. Sophomore Jalen Williams also had a big night, finishing with 33 points on 67% shooting.
Chet Holmgren protected the rim, as he had 5 blocks to go along with 13 points and 9 rebounds.
For Orlando,
Paolo Banchero had a great game, ending with 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists on 60% shooting. Wendell Carter Jr. had 22 points with 6 rebounds while Jalen Suggs recorded 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Franz Wagner had a quiet night, scoring 15 points on 31% shooting.
