After a lot of speculation about wether
Zach Lavine's days as a Chicago Bull were coming to an end before the
trade deadline, negotiations about him are being put on hold. However, there's a team that could benefit a lot from having Zach on the roster, the
Detroit Pistons. Detroit's been making call's to come up with a deal for LaVine, and here we've cleared out why he's a must.
The Pistons shouldn't pass up the opportunity to acquire a player like LaVine. A scorer with the Bulls shooting guard's caliber isn't always going to be available on the market, which is why here are five reasons why the Michigan franchise should go all-in this week.
1. Detroit Pistons need veteran presence on roster.
The Pistons are one of the youngest teams in the competition right now. As much as you have a lot of long-term promises, if they don't have an experienced leader in a competition as wild as the NBA, the pressure could be too much on many of them. That's why so many teams consider so important to have players with a certain amount of experience in their respective squads.
2. Zach LaVine would return the hope to Detroit.
At a time when the Detroit Pistons have virtually no fans, in large part because of all the seasons spent in the depths of the Eastern Conference, a signing like LaVine's would restore excitement to fans who have lost it after years and years of tanking without progress.
3. His signing would solve the outside shooting problems.
The Pistons roster doesn't really have great long distance shooters, with the exception of Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks. In an NBA where three-point shooting it is one of the most important qualities a franchise needs to have, with Zach LaVine Detroit would advance by leaps and bounds in this aspect.
4. Zach LaVine would help Cade Cunningham in pressure management.
Despite only being in the NBA for two years, Cunningham already has to bear the burden of dealing with an entire franchise that can't get out of last place in the East. With LaVine by his side, the Pistons' star point guard would greatly reduce the pressure he feels every game and could focus more on improving individually.
5. A signing to lead the scoring.
Closely linked to the previous point is this last one. With Cade Cunningham having more freedom to play his game and not being so obligated to always score, Zach LaVine would take advantage of the Detroit Pistons point guard's playmaking qualities, and the current Bulls shooting guard would most likely end up becoming the leading scorer for the Michigan franchise.
