Jalen Brunson was named a first time All-Star tonight, and he
proved why he deserves it. The second-round pick put on an absolute show as he
led the Knicks to a 109-105 victory over the Pacers at Madison Square Garden.
The
New York Knicks are red hot at the moment, as they currently
on a 9-game winning streak. Despite losing 3-time All-Star
Julius Randle to a
dislocated shoulder on January 27, everyone has stepped up and filled in nicely.
It all starts with their superstar, Jalen Brunson, who has thrived ever since
he put on an orange and blue uniform. After being stuck as a 6th man
behind Luka Doncic in Dallas, Brunson has shined averaging 25.1 points in his
time with New York.
Tonight, the newly announced All-Star scored 40 points with 5
rebounds on 50% shooting. Donte DiVincenzo had another great game, finishing
with 20 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals while big man Isaiah
Hartenstein dominated the boards. He grabbed 19 rebounds to go along with his
12 points and 6 assists.
On the other end, the Pacers were led by Pascal Siakam, who
finished with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Superstar
Tyrese Haliburton
had 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists in his 22 minutes tonight and Jalen
Smith recorded 20 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks on 82% shooting
off the bench.
This win improves the Knicks record to 32-17, which places them 3rd
in the East and 0.5 games behind the Milwaukee Bucks. New York is 9-1 over
their last 10 games and they will look to continue this dominant run on
Saturday night when they go up against the Los Angeles Lakers.
For Indiana, this loss drops them to 27-22 on the season, making
them 6th in the Eastern Conference. The Pacers are on a 2-game
losing streak and their next chance to turn things around will be tomorrow
night against the Sacramento Kings.
