After a painful loss that
Golden State Warriors suffered by the hands of
Los Angeles Clippers, Steph Curry was very self-critic regarding the current situation with his team. Currently sitting in the 10th position, the Warriors are watching how the LA Lakers are pulling away from them, therefore it's mandatory for them to improve and the quicker the better.
The Warriors fell 125-130 against the Clippers, which has momentarily left them with a 26-26 record, while the Lakers are 30-26 after beating the Utah Jazz 122-138. With All-Star Weekend coming up, GSW leader
Stephen Curry had some tough statements about his team, although he hopes they will return from the break with a new mindset.
"We're very average," Curry said in remarks picked up by
HoopsHype. "Average doesn't get it done in this league (qualifying for playoffs). We need to get on a hot streak, hopefully, we'll bounce back and after the All-Star break we'll get into a rhythm where we win every game [at home] and steal some games as a visitor."
Last year, the Golden State Warriors managed to qualify for the playoffs after finishing the 2022/23 NBA regular season in sixth place with a 44-38 record. This season, the sixth spot is currently occupied by the New Orleans Pelicans at 33-22, a far cry from the Warriors' 26-26.
That's what Curry is referring to as "average doesn't make it in this league." Golden State's legend is aware that the team will have to take a step forward, or unfortunately for them there will be no real competition for the ring next April.
