Last Friday, Chet Holmgrem was honored by Minnehaha Academy -Holmgrem's highschool-, in Minneapolis. All of his
Oklahoma City Thunder teammates traveled to attend the ceremony.
The young rookie missed the entire 2022-2023 season because of injury, but this season his presence is more than welcomed by his team members.
Averaging 17.4 points and 7.2 rebounds, Chet's upgraded OKC, and their future seems nothing but promising. The Thunder squad traveled to Minnehaha to share the moment of his high school jersey retirement with him.
"I'd just like to say thank you to everybody. I've been trying to make my rounds, you know, to say hi to everybody, but I probably won't be able to make it to everyone. So this is my chance to say thank you to everybody who helped give me the opportunity to become who I am and to make this possible for me."
Minnehaha with Holgrem managed to win 4 state titles in 4 years, with Chet being the star of the team in his senior season, scoring 20.8 points and grabbing 12.6 rebounds.
The Thunder has surprised everyone this season, currently sitting in number 2 of the Western Conference standings.
This is a huge jump for one of the NBA's youngblood teams, as they look pretty serious in going for a deep playoff run this year. Holmgrem is making a strong case for winning the Rookie of the Year award, helping his team surpass expectations.
